The Botanical Gardens has definitely become my favorite spot to shoot fashion posts in Birmingham. Most of the posts I’ve shot on my blog have been at the Botanical Gardens. There are so many different venues and sceneries- the options are endless, truly. If you want to see some other posts I’ve shot here, check out these posts (here, here, and here).
When I am looking to take pictures, I always try to go somewhere shady, outside of direct sunlight. Botanical Gardens is perfect because it has shaded areas because of the trees and again, there are multiple places there to take pictures.
My roommate, Christine, actually takes my pictures for me while I’m at school, and my oh my, is she a blessing! She is so selfless and she takes great photos. Not to mention, she’s always up for taking photos, even if it means neglecting school work.
Personally, I like taking photos near bright areas- not bright in terms of lighting, but bright in the background. I love the look of light and airy photos, so finding a white building, shooting in the city, or finding somewhere with a majestic feel is perfect for my taste.
Finding this type of area helps me edit my photos faster and easier, so I’m not upping the exposure or messing with the photo too much. Honestly, I haven’t really taken photos anywhere else in Birmingham besides the Botanical Gardens, but I know that downtown is calling my name! I’ve seen people do photoshoots on rooftops and that sounds right up my alley! If you have any recommendations for places to shoot photos in Birmingham, please let me know!
