Today was sadly our last day in Switzerland. We woke up to catch the 9:30 train out to Basel from Montreux, where we were staying.
We decided to stop in Basel for one reason and one reason only. For an art museum. My dad really likes impressionist artists (and so do I) so we love to see all of the museums when we can. I don’t go to all of them, but I still do enjoy seeing artwork.
We stayed in Basel until about 3:00 where we caught a train to Paris! But before we got on the train, we of course stopped at our favorite Swiss chocolate store where I get my coveted m&m chocolate bark (so good!).
The train station was very very busy today. Since it was a Friday and it was getting close to rush hour, the train was packed. Not to mention there is a strike going on in France.
We eventually made it to Paris at 7:00 and continued on “home” by going on the even busier metro.
We finally made it back to gloomy but hot Paris! When we got back to our apartment, it’s safe to say that we were all sweating profusely. I know, gross, but true. I don’t know what happened with the weather, but it suddenly got hot here in a matter of days.
Walking to dinner, the Italian restaurant that we went to last week (very good and affordable), we walked by the Seine, which was gone down in the water levels (thank goodness!). We can now see the sidewalks. I hope this means no more rain!
We took our time walking back, taking in the busy city shuffle, the beauty of the architecture, the magnificence of the Louvre, and the hot but beautiful sunset.
