Have you ever read an amazing book that was so good, you were telling everyone about it? I have a few of those books. I’ve started to love to read as I’ve grown older. When I was a kid, I hated to read because I wasn’t reading as advanced as some of my friends, so I thought there was no point in reading if I couldn’t read all of the cool books, like Magic Tree House. Now, I love to read and it relaxes me and gets my mind off of things more than anything. I like using my imagination, especially in this world overrun with technology. Some of the best books that I’ve read have stuck with me, and I’ve actually read them over, despite me promising myself that I would never read a book more than once because I thought it was weird. Some books are just that good.
My ultimate favorite book/series is the ongoing Christy Miller Series. This is the book series where I have read certain books more than once. This series is about a girl named Christy Miller and it basically takes you through her life and her daily struggles and how she copes with them with God’s help and guidance. I love this book because I really think that this book strengthened my faith as I could relate to almost every situation Christy was in. This series is actually still going on! I am still in love with this series and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone because it is just that good and I think more people need to read this. There is also some scripture in the chapters that I marked in my own Bible, which was pretty neat.
Another book series, that I have read from the beginning to end, is the Pretty Little Liars series. This is a really good book series as it is a thriller. I would not recommend this book to every age group though. There are about 16 books (I just finished the last book, how sad) and I would say that the appropriate age for this is 15 or 16 years old and up. But let me tell you, once you start reading, you will not be able to stop.
Gone Girl is a more recent book that came out a few years back, and the movie just came out too! This is similar to the Pretty Little Liars series in the aspect that it is a thriller. This is a good read, suited for ages 17 and up I would say because it has some graphic details. This is a good book though if you’re into thriller and murder mysteries. I had trouble putting this book down, too. But warning, when I first started this book out, it was hard to get into it, but after a while, it gets really good!
Heaven is For Real is such a classic, in my opinion, and it needs to be read by every single person, no matter what age. It needs to be read multiple times. This is a God-loving, miracle book where this little boy, Todd, dies, goes to Heaven, and then comes back to Earth and tells his father, a preacher about all that he saw in Heaven, attesting that Heaven is real. It is such a heartwarming story, and it is even better because it is a true story (or based on a true story). I cried so many times in this book and I got to realize how amazing God is. Everyone must read this at some point in their life- boy or girl- read it.
Miss Match is a book that I just finished a couple of days ago. It is part of a trilogy, The Lauren Holbrook Series, and it is about this girl, Lauren, commonly referred to as Laurie, who lives off of chocolate, caffeine, and matching people up together. She loves playing little miss matchmaker, but sometimes her plans go askew when God has a different plan. We see her grow through Christ and grow as a person, and honestly, I think she’s a funny girl. Her sense of humor is hilarious. I’m currently on the second book of the series and I’m loving it. This is good for ages 15 and up I would say. It’s a good book that also has some scripture, so you get your daily dose of Jesus in there, too.
My Life Undecided is just a fun read that I read about a year ago. It’s about this girl, Brooklyn, who always makes the wrong decision or can’t decide on something, so she decides to make a blog so that her readers can vote for her and decide for her. It’s a really funny story, and it is fun to read, especially when you are a blogger. This is probably for ages 15 and up, and it just a fun book with a little romance in it.
