My whole life I’ve had bigger legs than most girls. I have never had stick thin legs, and to be quite honest, I know I never will. There have been times when I have wished for smaller legs, there have been times when I have been happy with the body that God has given me. It’s always a constant struggle, something that’s always fluctuating.
I was pretty much born with muscular legs. I look back at pictures of me as a little girl and my hamstrings and quads are seriously so defined! While they might not be super defined at the moment, I know that God has blessed me with muscular legs that can carry me, get me through a tough workout (#BBG anyone?), and take me for nice long walks.
As my legs have always been bigger than my waist size, finding shorts has always been a struggle. I will find a really cute pair of shorts, but the waist will be way too big. I will find shorts that fit me through the waist, but they’re too tight around my legs. It’s always been like this for me! After much trial and error, I think I’ve finally found the key to shopping for shorts for my body type.
What to look for:
Look for shorts that have a wide leg.
Try shorts that are loose and flowy.
Find some pull-on shorts! (Sounds silly, but they’re awesome!)
Look for shorts that can stretch.
Try on some linen shorts.
Find shorts that are marketed towards an athletic build.
Stay away from bermuda shorts.
Check out “tie-front” or “drawstring” shorts.
