Hey y’all! Today I am going to be sharing my book wish list. Yeah, I’m not sure if that’s a thing, but I want it to be. These are the books that I am dying to read.
Sometimes I feel like I don’t have enough time to read and it makes me really sad! I love getting caught up in a book where I can’t put it down. The days spent reading are absolutely the best. Recently, I’ve been into spiritual growth books, so this list falls under that genre. I love spiritual growth books because they make you evaluate your life and help you see God. They’re just the best.
Bittersweet by Shauna Niequist
Over Spring Break, I bought this book but I haven’t started it yet! It is about enjoying and embracing both the good and the bad in everyday life. I am excited to read it because I think my perspective will change and I can get some insight on how to see good in the bad. I mean, it does make sense that everything can’t be jolly all the time- that would probably get boring honestly- and we wouldn’t grow at all.
A Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp
This book is one that a bunch of my friends have loved on. It is about finding joy in your circumstance, the situation that you are in currently. Embracing God’s gifts in everyday life is so important and His gifts are often overlooked!
Cold Tangerines by Shauna Niequist
Now this one is a cult favorite. Nearly every person I have talked to loves this book and I know many people who have read this book multiple times. It is about finding God in the ordinary things that we might not deem spiritual, and similar to the other books, its about finding Him in every situation. I think that this one is more in the style of a story, but I’m so excited to read this (eventually)!
Love Does by Bob Goff
I’m still kicking myself for not meeting Mr. Goff while he was on my campus last semester. He is a very successful writer and his book is very well known. This book again is more of a story book (not to be confused with a fairytale), and it tells the story of Bob Goff’s life and how he has said “yes” to things in life and where that has taken him- where God has taken him.
The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren
My family loves Rick Warren. We often listen to his sermons and we are always looking and reading his devotionals. He is an amazing pastor and he has such a great gift. He has a book published where he talks about God’s plan in our lives and why we are here on Earth. My grandfather loves this book and has asked me multiple times to read it! I better hurry on that one! I’m excited to see what I’ll pull out of this book!
Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist
Holy cow, Shauna Niequist really does write a lot of books- and good ones! This book is about being present in your situation and not worrying about impressing or pleasing others. I think that this is such an amazing reminder because we often try to people-please and I don’t think that’s why God put us on this Earth. He wants us to glorify Him- not other people.
