Next year, I am going to be living in a different building. This new building has a new set up for me and this year, I am technically going to have three roommates! I am so excited! I will share a room with one girl, but there will be another double next door. We will have our own living space and then a mini kitchen equipped with a fridge, a sink, some cabinets, and a little bit of counter space!
I am so excited to live with my best friends next year! In our building, we are going to be fairly close to the kitchen, so I am excited that the kitchen will be a couple of steps away. I doubt that people will be using the kitchen often, so I can
hog it all to myself hopefully have some alone time in the kitchen!
Last year, as freshmen, we were all forced to buy the highest meal plan. Because the food is not super wonderful (but it is supposedly getting better), I decided to go with a smaller meal plan this year! This means that I will be able to make my own food in the kitchen! Or I could just eat out but college=no money=only eating out every once and a while.
This year, on my school supplies list is kitchen utensils and random things! I am so excited to buy all of that random stuff that I will probably have forever. My mom still uses the stirring spoon that she purchased in college!
No one ever thinks to think about the college essentials in the kitchen! These items are really important, so here is my list of kitchen must-haves!
I love to make smoothies, especially after working out or for an afternoon snack, so this is a must!
Because I plan on cooking some food ahead, I will need some containers to store my food in! I like Rubbermaid containers because they come in all shapes and sizes and they are plastic so that they will not break like glass would!
Duh… I need silverware.
I am planning on buying a baking sheet that will double as a cookie pan! I am going to just buy one (to save some room) so that I can cook and bake with it!
Hand Held Mixer
I already had one of these last year, but this is a must have for me because I love to bake! It is definitely a stress reliever for me, and I love to bake cookies for my friends!
I love these cups. I put my smoothies in them, I drink my water out of them, I put ice in them, and I use them all the time! I love these cups because they can be personalized and they can withstand hot and cold beverages! I also love that there are many different options for lids for an easy trip to class! Bed Bath and Beyond has a lot of options if you want to buy some!
If I am going to bake and cook, I will need a spatula! Spatulas are so awesome for literally everything. They can be used for cookies and they can be used to make eggs! Spatulas, alhtough overlooked, are very much a necessity.
I am planning on just buying one pot and one pan. Again, I will have limited space and I will want something to cook food in! I use my pan for making eggs and I use my pot for making rice or mac & cheese! Yum!
Last year, I used mainly paper plates, and I went through them so quickly! This is not a good option for a college girl who wants to save money! This year, I am going to buy Melamine plates. Melamine is the material that is like a hard plastic. Target sells them, and they come in pretty patterns and colors!
A mixing bowl is essential for baking! If I want to make cakes and cookies, I will need a bowl to mix it all!
I have some other little things on my list like a can opener, a knife to cut apples, and tongs, but these are my main essentials that I am going to make sure I have when moving in! I hope that this has helped you!
