As I have just finished my first semester of college, I am definitely happy. I have learned many things, and I have studied a lot. I have made great friends, and I have joined a sorority.
As I am now home from my first semester of college, I could not be happier. I am especially happy because my exams are over! I am also so happy to be back in the warmer weather!
As well as making many friends, I have learned a lot of things, so I decided that I would share those things with you!
Have an Open Mind
I believe that everyone should have an open mind in general, but especially when you are jumping into a new scene (college), a new place (college), and you are living in a new setting (college- or the dorm), you should be open and willing. You should be open to other’s ideas, you should not judge automatically both a person or a idea, and have an open mind when you are making friends. You really don’t even know these people, and it can be hard to make friends. Be open to their ideas, be open to their personalities, because you don’t know if that person will become your best friend or not!
Be Nice and Be Yourself
I always think that niceness is the best policy, but especially when you are meeting new people and making new friends, be nice, but also be yourself. So if you’re not nice normally, I don’t know what to tell you… Just try being nice.. maybe you’ll like it!
In my first semester of college, I had a lot of work, but I also had a lot of time. When all of your new friends are in class, or when your roommate isn’t in the room, then is a good time to get some work done. Or when you don’t have a lot going on, get your butt to the library. I love working ahead because it saves me from stressing out and it helps me not to procrastinate. By working ahead on assignments, you have a lot of time to review those assignments and therefore make better grades!
Seriously though… have some fun. Go to Sonic at midnight. Go on late night drives. Go to a frat party. Rush to get into a sorority… some might argue that this is not fun… but do it anyways! You will totally regret it if you don’t save some time for having fun. I know and understand that college is for studying and for earning a degree, but there is only so much studying you can do before your brain is full… or it seems like it- I don’t know of a valid excuse for having fun when you maybe should be studying, so whatever! Don’t get too stressed out!
Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed :)
