If you remember this post, then you’ll know that I love essential oils. I think that these oils are so awesome because they can be used for so many things: sickness, sleep, skin, emotions, etc. I already did a post on Frankincense and now I’m moving onto another one of my favorites, Lavender essential oil.
All about Lavender
Lavender essential oil is probably one of the most popular essential oils. It is the one that everyone has and it acts as a good base when starting with essential oils. It derives from the Lavandula Anguvstifolia plant. I’m sure y’all have smelled the scent of lavender before, but the scent can be described as sweet, soothing, and flowery.
Lavender has so many uses. Really, the possibilities are endless, so I will give you just a snapshot of how you can use lavender essential oil.
Use lavender for a good night sleep.
The most commonly known use is when Lavender is used for a calming effect. Lavender is used to help people fall asleep and relax. I love diffusing lavender with some Cedarwood for a good night of sleep. For my bedroom, I typically use about 4 drops of the oil in my diffuser. I know that some people drop lavender directly on their pillow for a good night sleep, too. If you like this idea better, add 10 drops of lavender to a spray bottle and fill the rest with water. Spray this mixture around your room before going to sleep.
Use lavender to cure your headache.
Lavender is also really good for maladies, or in other words, sicknesses, like headaches. If you put lavender oil directly on a warm wash cloth and on the back of your neck, it can majorly help with a headache. I think it is because it has a calming effect.

Lavender can also be used for stress, just like frankincense. Just diffuse this oil or apply topically and you’ll be stress free (or least less stressed than when you started)!! I have never personally tried this, but I’ve read that lavender can be helpful if you have muscle tension, which makes sense because, again, lavender is calming.
Use lavender to boost your skin.
Another common use this oil for the skin. I have made myself a facial serum (I will post a DIY soon!) that contains lavender. I find that it just soothes my skin and helps parched skin. I rarely have dry skin, but after a long day in the sun, lavender helps calm my (sometimes sunburnt) skin!
Add 10 drops of lavender to some epsom salts (1 cup) and dissolve in a bath tub.
Add lavender to your mascara for healthy eyelashes. Lavender can stimulate growth in your eyelashes, too.
Use lavender as a perfume.
Diffuse during allergy season. Mixing it with Peppermint and Lemon in your diffuser can also help with sickness and allergies.
Add to shampoo to prevent dandruff.
