With the hustle and bustle of everyday life going on, doesn’t it seem like we all need a little bit more encouragement mid-week (and every day)? I am a big fan of encouragement and encouraging. I like to say that it is one of my God-given gifts, but that’s just me saying that. I love being encouraged just as much as I love encouraging others. The act of lifting others up by helping them see a bigger picture and to see the beauty in themselves is so captivating to me and it’s priceless.
While I do love to encourage my close friends, I also want to encourage y’all, my trusty readers. I wish I knew y’all on a more personal level (get to know me more here), and please feel free to reach out, but since that isn’t the same as sitting down and grabbing a treat, I decided that I wanted to encourage y’all right here and right now. Here are five ways to be encouraged. Listen to these, do what these say, watch the videos, repeat the phrases, do whatever it takes to make your heart happy and full.
1 // Realize that you are loved.
I used to be so self-conscious and once I finally realized that I am loved and the Creator of this world cares about me so much, I started living a more happy life. You. Are. So. Loved. God loves you so incredibly much and He thinks you are great. I think you’re pretty great, too, but the Lord’s approval is all you need.
2 // Watch this video
I stumbled upon this wonderful video on twitter a couple of days ago and wow. This is actually one of my favorite YouTube videos. Ever. It is so inspiring, moving, and encouraging. This guy’s faith is almost enviable and so amazing. I applaud this man for his firm faith and his unwavering trust in the Lord.
3 // Listen to the “Red Sea Road” album
Y’all. Ellie Holcomb just came out with a new album and it is so incredible. The lyrics themselves are beautiful and filled with truth, regardless of the amazing music that accompanies those lyrics. My favorite song to listen to is “Find You Here.”
4 // Tell yourself that you are beautiful.
Tomorrow morning when you wake up, take a moment to tell yourself that you are beautiful. Take a look in the mirror, compliment yourself and be filled with joy. You are your own worst critic and you are doing better than you think you’re doing. Your heart is the only thing that Jesus cares about- remember that. You are absolutely and completely beautiful.
5 // Read a devotional or make time everyday for God.
I can definitely tell a major difference in my life when I carve out time to talk to God. Whether this be through prayer, through song, or through searching and exploring my Bible, I always feel uplifted and encouraged simply by the presence of the Holy Spirit. Ask for Him to come into your heart and to create a happy mood and a joyful outlook. He is a creator- He created this world… Don’t you think that He can create a happy attitude for you?
Thank you so much for reading this, y’all! I wish I could squeeze you and tell you these things face-to-face, but this is the closest I’m going to get to that! You are beautiful. You are loved. You are worthy. You are enough. Don’t let the truth get trampled through the hustle of every day life.
