Sweetly Sally

real never goes out of style

Munich, Germany | Day 4

June 1, 2016

Today in Munich it was raining and cold once again. We started off the morning by eating breakfast (at McDonald’s… We wanted some eggs and that’s the only place we could find them!) and then we just sat and used the free Wi-Fi there. Our Wi-Fi in our hotel unfortunately is not cooperating, so we are constantly looking for a hotspot.

We contemplated going to Salzburg, Austria, but because it was cold (40 degrees!!!) and rainy, we decided to ditch that plan. We decided to go to the first concentration camp instead, in Dachau, Germany. This is the location of the first concentration camp, built in 1933. It was very humbling to see this piece of history from WWII. It is so unbelievable and hard to imagine what these poor people went through.

IMG_1114In this concentration camp, it was the first built and it was built for political prisoners. It was also the model for other camps to follow. We toured the whole camp and the rainy weather added to the effect of this camp. We stayed for about 4 hours, until it closed.

On our way back, we ate a really good pastry- I don’t know the name of it, but it is filled with cream cheese and it’s amazing.

We then proceeded to go to dinner. We went to Restaurant Opatija- a mix of American, Italian, Balkan, and German foods. I had a chicken skewer and it was really tasty. I would recommend this if you want something family-friendly and not too expensive.

We ended the night by going to find another Wi-Fi spot! I hope y’all have had a great day and I hope you enjoyed!
