Sweetly Sally

real never goes out of style

Munich, Germany | Day 5

June 3, 2016

Today was the first day in Munich where it wasn’t raining or cold! We woke up with the weather at about 60 degrees and no rain. I was so thankful for the clear skies. We got up early to go to breakfast and then we went to the Neue Museum to see some paintings by Monet, Van Gogh, Manet, Degas, Cezanne, and others. The pieces of art were absolutely beautiful.

For lunch, we went to the Beer Garden right near the Glockenspiel. This area is similar to a market where eat person can eat whatever type of food that they want. My dad and I got salmon and vegetables, my mom got a salad, Ryan got a panini, and Bo got sausage. It was nice that we were able to choose what food we were in the mood for.

After lunch, I took a quick nap and then my mom and I went to Residenz, the mansion that royalty lived in for over 300 years. We were able to see the treasury and the royal palace. From the outside, it just looks like a normal mansion, not elaborate in the decorations, but in the inside, it is truly ornate. There is gold everywhere and I could tell that the royalty lived lavishly in this palace.

Afterwards, we shopped around a bit before going back to the Beer Garden for a snack of a pretzel (which was about 3X the size of a normal pretzel!). We came back again to the hotel and ate a late dinner at 9:00. I got a salad at the Glockenspiel cafe, the restaurant where we ate the first day we arrived. I feel like it can be hard to find vegetables while traveling, especially in a foreign country, so it was nice having a salad.

We are turning in early because tomorrow we have an early morning! We are renting a car and driving almost nine hours to Amsterdam! It will be long, but it will be worth it!
