Alright, let’s talk self-tanner. In the dead of winter, I tend to get very pale. Even though I’m originally from the sunny state, I somehow manage to stay very pale. That being said, I do get tan easily, but the problem being in Alabama is that I have no beach at my disposal. My #1 resort is always my trusty self-tanner!
Recently, my favorite self-tanner has been the Fake Bake Flawless Tanner. I just recently bought the Flawless Self Tanner in “Darker” for a deeper color, but I’m afraid to try it out because I don’t want to end up with tragic streaks! The darker color is actually a couple of dollars cheaper, though! Let me tell you- I love this self tanner. It is literally fool-proof. It comes with a spray bottle and a mitt and all you have to do is wear gloves, put the mitt on, spray 1-2 sprays on the mitt and rub onto your skin in a circular motion. It is recommended that it is applied at night to help maintain the color and to fully develop. It has a “color guard” so it will go on darker than it will actual be so that it is easier to apply. The great thing about this self-tanner is that it is free of parabens and chemicals, and it does not stain! They claim that it is easier to get out of clothes compared to makeup stains! I have not experienced any stains, though- yay! This also fades very nicely and to maintain, you need to apply once a week! This is definitely my favorite self-tanner! Another one that I love is this one.
The next and probably most common self-tanner is the gradual lotion. I typically use the Jergens Daily Moisturizing Lotion because I find that it is the most natural and the most moisturizing. I don’t usually use a gradual tanner unless I am already tan and I just want to maintain my tan. I love this one, though, because it actually works. The only thing that I do not like is the smell. I know that it is hit or miss with the fragrance on most self-tanners, but this one is a miss for me. It is just so distinct and the smell is strong (to me). A gradual lotion is amazing, especially for beginners, though. I personally love a gradual self tanner for the face, though. Jergens makes an amazing one.
Ah, the foam- the fun stuff. I personally think that a self-tanner foam is so much fun! I think that the little kid comes out in me and wants to make concoctions and experiments when I use a foam tanner. This is my newest self-tanner purchase. It is by the brand, Rodan + Fields, which is a very well known and good quality brand. My friend sold this self-tanner to me and it rocks. It has such an easy application, you don’t need gloves, and it looks so natural- no traces of orange! This dries really quickly, can be used on the face, and can be used multiple times in a week to deepen the color. Because this tanner dries fairly quickly, you have to work fast, but make sure to blend it out well! This foam tanner is good for beginners, too! For super beginners, I would stick with the gradual lotion, but it’s up to you! This is a great option for fair skin as well- it looks very natural!
