Phew. This morning was an early one and day was filled with a lot of traveling. We took metros, trains, buses, and ferries to reach Varenna, Italy, which is a small village/town that borders Lake Como. Holy cow. Lake Como is so beautiful.
We only arrived at about 7:30PM so there wasn’t much to do once we got here. We walked through the Villas and the side streets to take in the beauty and unique atmosphere.
This area of Italy reminds me of Montreux in a sense. It has the same feel as it borders a lake and has tropical flowers and trees all over. Varenna is also very touristy and very hard to get to. From Paris, we took a 2-3 hour train ride. From there, we took a 10 minute taxi ride to the bus stop where we took an hour long bus ride to the ferry at Lake Como. We then had a 10-20 minute ferry ride before finally arriving in Varenna. My parents have always wanted to come to Lake Como because they had heard wonderful things about it.
While it is very beautiful here, I’m not sure that I could stay a whole week, or even four days here. It’s so pretty, but there isn’t much to do. We mainly just walked around and ate a lot of food. Typical.
For dinner we of course had to have Italian food because we are in Italy! The food at the restaurant we ate (Le Bar Molo I believe….) did not impress me, but the Bruschetta was good!
If you haven’t read my last post, you wouldn’t know that it has been very warm in Paris. We were very excited when we found air conditioning in our hotel room in Veranna- almost unheard of in Europe!
Tomorrow we are taking the ferry to another nearby town! I hope y’all enjoyed! Only 2 more days before America!
