New York City is magical, isn’t it? There’s something just special about the atmosphere, the people, the food, the experiences. I mean, everyone love New York, right?
When I knew that I was headed to New York City after my trip to Europe, the first thing that went through my mind was, “Oh my, what the heck am I going to wear?!”
Short story, I went shopping and found the perfect outfit for New York.
When I go to a city, I like to hold onto my sense of style, but I also like to dress for the city. I’m not going to wear Nike shorts and a big t shirt while I’m in New York City, ya know? But at the same time I don’t want to wear all black like someone who lives in the city because that’s just not me. It’s hard to balance the chic and the you. After all, I am trying to promote #REALFASHIONREALME, so I had to stay true to myself in my outfit choices!
Long skirts and midi-skirts are such a trend right now, and I wouldn’t hate it if they stayed a trend for, well, forever. I am such a BIG fan of them! Long skirts are modest, flattering, and they are so versatile! In this outfit, I tried to stay in the middle of fancy and casual, but I think that this skirt could easily go both ways. For example, if I chose to pair this skirt with some heels rather than platform espadrilles, it would definitely be dressy enough to wear to a party. If I chose to wear some platform sneakers with this skirt instead, it would be perfect for a shopping day.
Next, I paired a chambray button down with this skirt. Although I think that this top looks super cute with the skirt, it’s not ideal for a summer outfit due to the rising temperatures! Instead, I would pair a simple white shirt with this skirt!
My thoughts for how to dress in New York City are just to dress true to yourself, but also dress for the occasion. I personally wouldn’t wear workout clothes around New York City because there are always photo-opportunities and I always feel more alive and happy if I’m dressed nicely. I hope this helped y’all!
