What to Do in Delray Beach

For this spring break, we have been hanging out around Delray Beach, Florida a lot. This is a big tourist area, so if you visit, you might be wondering, what do I do in Delray Beach? There are so many things to do, but since I’ve lived around here my whole life, I am going to tell y’all some of the things that I love to do while I’m here. I have loved growing up around Delray Beach. Yes, I have really taken this area for granted since living in Birmingham, but I still cherish the time I spend here. Since I am not home all that often, while I am here in South Florida, I make sure to do these things before heading back to school.

Atlantic Avenue // Atlantic Avenue is similar to a “downtown.” This is where all of the restaurants, night life, and live music happens. I love to come here for the beach and the food, but that’s just me. Atlantic Avenue also has great places to eat ice cream if you are a dessert fanatic like I am.

Kilwins // Speaking of ice cream, make sure that you go to Kilwins. I wouldn’t say that this area is known for this ice cream shop, but it is a really popular choice. They have amazing homemade waffle cones and they also serve other desserts like fudge and candy apples. I typically just stick with the ice cream, though. My favorite combo to get is either the mint chocolate chip (YUM!) or the fudgie brownie in the waffle cone. They also do split scoops here, so maybe next time I should just get both?

El Camino // This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants around. I’d say that my family and I go here at least once a week because it is that good. They have fantastic guacamole that you just know is fresh. Oh my goodness, thinking of the guacamole now is making my mouth water! For the entree, I have always gotten the chicken fajitas. They are so so good and they always hit the spot! At this restaurant, the portions are pretty big, so even if I split the fajitas with someone, there are always leftovers. If you are planning on getting the burrito, make SURE to share. I think that three people could share this and still leave stuffed. Since turning 21, I have been scouting out the best margaritas and this place definitely has some good ones. On Monday nights, they have $3 classic margaritas- they are so good! My favorite margarita here is the Watermelon JalapeƱo one. It has a little bit of a kick to it, but the watermelon flavor subdues the spice. They also take reservations!

BurgerFi // This is a chain restaurant, I know, but if you want a good cheap burger, this is your place. It is on the very east side of Atlantic Avenue right on the beach, so this is my choice when I take a break from tanning to go eat. If you are a fan of lettuce wrapped burgers, this place does them the best! I get a lettuce wrapped burger with french fries. Their french fries are so fresh and good- they are a must have. This restaurant also has some really good custard and milkshakes if you like custard!

The Office // If you are looking for a place that has a nicer atmosphere where you sit down and get served, this burger restaurant is really good. Compared to BurgerFi, the Office has more gourmet burgers and they are thicker. This restaurant also has a bar that you can sit outside for. I honestly haven’t been to this restaurant in a year or two, but considering I still remember it after this long, I’d say it made a lasting impression.

Periwinkle // This is one of the cutest stores ever. The owner of this store has some daughters that I went to school with. I love the style of this store- it is beachy, yet classy and timeless. You will fall in love with this store, no doubt. This store reminds me of Kate from Lonestar Southern. If you like her style, then you would love this store.

Ben and Jerry’s // Mmmm, the classic Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Shop. This shop is really close to BurgerFi, and therefore really close to the beach. This is just your typical ice cream shop with good ice cream. They also make milkshakes and smoothies.

Pizza Rustica // One of the favorite pizza places on Atlantic Avenue is Pizza Rustica. This is a hole in the wall pizza place that is so good and so worth it. It’s not really a hole in the wall, but compared to the other restaurants on Atlantic Avenue, this one is more casual. They serve unique pizzas in the shape of a rectangle. They are so yummy and filling!

Love Shack // If you are looking for a cute boutique with clothes and accessories, make sure that you go to Love Shack. It is right across from El Camino, actually! Their clothes are super cute and beachy, but they also have some preppy items in the mix. There is another place called Native Sun further down Atlantic that is really cute.

The Beach // Last but definitely not least, we have the beach. On the far east side (obviously) of Atlantic Avenue, we have the beach, which runs parallel to A1A, the main road that runs up the coast. This public beach is a common destination for most locals and tourists. Make sure to bring your own towels or chairs, unless you want to pay the company a good $20 per chair on the beach. There are lifeguards on this beach, too, so no need to worry about that one!

I hope y’all enjoyed this post! Let me know if you like this type of post- thinking of doing it for Birmingham, maybe? Let me know! Have a blessed day, y’all!
