Travel and packing posts are some of my absolute favorite blog posts to read. Maybe I’m nosy, but I love seeing what everyone else brings with them on their trips. Packing posts are different from regular posts, for example, “What’s in My Makeup Bag,” because when the phrase “travel edition” is slapped on the end, it changes the game. These are the essentials. The must haves. The “cannot live without” products. That being said, these are my go-to, must-have, essential, top 10 makeup products that I have and use. These are my makeup basics, in a travel edition.
Most of these products I showed in this post a few months ago, and some are old favorites. For me, these products are tried and true. Although I might not wear makeup everyday and I might switch back and forth between products, these are my favorites currently.
When I travel, I like to wear makeup to feel more presentable and more put together. You know when you travel and you just feel yucky and gross? Sometimes all it takes is some blush to brighten your mood. I definitely do not wear makeup on the plane, but I do wear makeup on the days that I am just exploring the cities. Being in Europe for a month with one suitcase, I had to make sure that I was packing light. Therefore, I had to pack my absolute basics, clothing and makeup-wise. Ready to see what’s in my makeup bag when I travel?
one // Lorac Pro Palette
This is the bulkiest thing in my makeup bag, and without it, I probably could have downsized to a smaller makeup bag. This is a recent purchase of mine, as in 6 months old, but I have grown to love it. I use the “Medium” color to bronze my face and I use the “Light” color to lightly contour. I also use the “Yellow” to set my undereye concealer. This palette has gotten a lot more use than I thought it would!
two // NYX HD Studio Loose Powder
When I was trying to be conscious of the ingredients in my makeup products last summer, I discovered this makeup product. This loose powder is good for your skin (as in it doesn’t have terrible ingredients) and it is great for photos! The only downside to this powder is that it can be really messy… Maybe not the best to travel with, but oh well- too late now!
three // It Cosmetics CC Cream +
If you’ve read my past posts, you’d know that I have loved this CC Cream for a long time. This goes on like a tinted moisturizer, but it has more coverage than a tinted moisturizer. I usually switch between this CC Cream and this Tinted Moisturizer (another one of my favorites). It just depends on the day! I chose to bring this CC Cream because it has a higher SPF and it is hydrating- a must for traveling! Note: A little goes a long way! If you use too much, it can look cakey or feel too heavy! Mixing with your moisturizer is a great alternative to this problem.
four // Nars Blush in “New Attitude”
How long is blush good for? I got this blush as a senior in high school… I’m going into my senior year of college… Is it time to throw it out? I love this blush simply because the color is so bright and cheery, and the pigmentation is amazing. I have found in the past that some blushes make me breakout, but this one has yet to do so. I think that I need to upgrade my blush sometime soon! You might have some trouble finding this color because when I got it, it was limited edition. Do you see why I don’t want to get rid of it?!
I am in no way a mascara freak. I just have a few requirements: no waterproof, and I prefer a plastic brush. I got this mascara on sale for $2 at Target, so this just happens to be the mascara I am using at the moment. I also really like Tarte’s mascara, but again, I go back and forth between products. I have this mascara in the “Black-Brown” color, although I can’t really tell that big of a difference between that and “black.”
six // Tarte Eyelash Curler
This has become my new favorite makeup tool. I used to never curl my lashes. Ever. In January, when I went to Las Vegas, my cousin was using this eyelash curler and after I tried hers out, I knew that I had to get it. Curling your eyelashes makes such a difference! I still get nervous that I am going to pinch myself with it, but it has only happened once since I got this curler. I can tell a big difference between this curler and other ones I’ve tried before. This one is so easy!
seven // L’Oreal Lash Primer
When I got the eyelash curler, I also got some eyelash primer. This stuff is just as amazing. I prefer the Dior Eyelash Primer, but that stuff is so expensive (like $30 expensive). I got this one as an alternative and it’s great! It’s not as great as the Dior one, but hey, it gets the job done!
I used to use this concealer all the time. I just recently repurchased this concealer after running out of my beloved Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer (#collegebudget). I like this concealer, I really do, but I am really missing my UD concealer… There is just such a big difference in the coverage and the application, but for travel purposes, this concealer gets the job done and the sponge-tip applicator makes it so easy!
nine // Anastasia Brow Pomade in Blonde
Just like the CC Cream, you should know by now that I am obsessed with this pomade. I’ve tried pencils and powders, but I always find myself using this in the end. I love this because it stays on all day, looks natural, and lasts forever! Seriously, I’ve had this for about a year and I haven’t even used half of the pot. This stuff rocks. It takes a little practice when you first use it, but my advice is to splurge on the brush that is recommended and to start light. Don’t use a ton of this on your eyebrows, unless you don’t want the natural look. It’s totally up to you!
Like the blush, I’ve had this product for a while now, but I can’t bring myself to replace it because it was so expensive. I now use this product as a highlighter, but I used to use this product as an all-over face powder. This powder is far from sparkly and it just glows. It is so beyond pretty! I just rediscovered this product and I’m loving it!
I hope y’all enjoyed this post! I really enjoy writing these types of posts- What’s In my Purse, What’s in my Makeup Bag, What’s in my Carry-on, etc.! They are so fun to read, too! I hope y’all have a great day today!
